The PBIC 2011 season kicks off at Brands Hatch on 10 April. The entry list looks pretty short, but most of the usual suspects are signed up. Which begs the question, will the racing be as action packed as last year? I think so. (more…)

That’s right it’s that time of year again, next weekend we’ll make the trip to Norfolk for the season finale of the Peter Best Insurance challenge at Snetterton. Blaine, Dan and Ollie all had reasonable pace at Cadwell and are hoping to continue in the same vein at Snet…
In preparation for the race Team Neaves Racing have fitted rudders, anchors and compasses to their cars so that navigating around Snetterton will be that little bit easier. However, this will all be in vein if last year is anything to go by, as you may have guessed, it was a little too wet to race.

That was the name of the game today down at Brands Hatch, testing. The first time the cars have ever turned a wheel on a track, and indeed, the first time Goose – I mean Cougar / Hardy – and I had ever been on track. (more…)

Firstly I must apologise to the tens of Team Neaves fans for the blogging drought that has plagued the site! I am sure you are wondering why this is…

Well, it’s taken long enough but finally the car is blue with silver stripes – which I am assured will make the car go faster! But unfortunately the colour scheme is not unique, as my brother’s car is exactly the same. Don’t they look good together… (more…)
As we entered phase two of the painting of Old Rusty I was feeling quite happy, if a little apprehensive about whether all the preparation had paid off. Today we sprayed the centre of the car only in preparation for the silver viper stripes like the ones on Ollie’s car. But, as ever, it didn’t quite go to plan…
After the first coat of silver (metallic) things were looking good, the surfaces all looked smooth and free of any marks. It was the second coat where things started to go wrong; to my horror the paint started to craze badly in a few more noticeable areas. You’ll se from the photos the roof, boot and particularly the back end were looking less than perfect!
Although it doesn’t look like it we’ve been hard at work prepping the car for paint, and phase 1 of the painting has begun! After profiling the rear arches and making the terribly moulded fibreglass rear valance fit the whole car has been sanded to within an inch of its life, and has claimed the fingerprints on my right hand as compensation. Today saw the primer sprayed on to the car, all done in our humble little home garage…

Great body, not much up top…
Now this bit is where old Rusty starts to look like a real car, just like when Pinocchio’s wish is granted and he becomes a ‘real boy’. The line of the car is very good considering its mostly new under-body panels! (more…)
It steers!
This is obviously only a small thing to some people, but to me its huge. This car has not turned a wheel for 3 years, and now it can again (it does still need to be pushed, and cannot stop itself…).
