The PBIC 2011 season kicks off at Brands Hatch on 10 April. The entry list looks pretty short, but most of the usual suspects are signed up. Which begs the question, will the racing be as action packed as last year? I think so. (more…)

That’s right it’s that time of year again, next weekend we’ll make the trip to Norfolk for the season finale of the Peter Best Insurance challenge at Snetterton. Blaine, Dan and Ollie all had reasonable pace at Cadwell and are hoping to continue in the same vein at Snet…
In preparation for the race Team Neaves Racing have fitted rudders, anchors and compasses to their cars so that navigating around Snetterton will be that little bit easier. However, this will all be in vein if last year is anything to go by, as you may have guessed, it was a little too wet to race.

Setting the scene
Since I started circuit racing back in the early 90’s I have always raced with the PBIC in its various forms. In the early days it took a while for me to get into the action but when I did it was fantastic. For me the lure has always been good close racing, the thrill of winning through good driving.
In the later years, as I’ve moved up the classes, I’ve found it near impossible to obtain the same performance as Midgets and V8 powered cars. Simply, you can’t get the power out of the B Series engine. Couple this with the spiralling costs in the pursuit of performance and begin to get more than frustrated. At the end of the 2007 season, we had seen the likes of Dan Ludlow in his VHPD Metro, mixing it at the front of the pack. This, as well as what we had read about the conversions lead to us hurriedly building the experimental K Series B. (more…)

I have been using Classic and Modern Engines for many years. Paul, the proprietor has always been most helpful and also always meets our impossible deadlines!
In the mid 90’s Paul worked on my B series engine. This year (2008) he has built my K series VHPD engine, it produces 191BHP and 149LB of torque, which is exactly what we expected. The engine has been faultless throughout the seasons racing in the PBIC Championship enabling me to take the Class C (fully modified) honours with some very close racing during the year! So many thanks Paul.
